Miriam Saage-Maaß

Lawyer and Legal Director at European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR), where she has developed and headed the Business and Human Rights program. She worked on various cases against corporations, including civil proceedings against German retailer KiK with regards to labor exploitation in South Asia. Furthermore, she is engaged in criminal proceedings against high-ranking managers for their involvement in international crimes, e.g. arms exports from Europe to Saudi Arabia. She is an internationally renowned expert for corporate responsibility and human rights. She lectures at Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, and joined Stiftung Forum Recht’s advisory board in 2020. In October 2016, the German Vereinigung Demokratischer Juristinnen und Juristen awarded Saage-Maaß and ECCHR General Secretary Wolfgang Kaleck the Hans Litten Prize for their strategic approach to ECCHR’s work.
